Peninsula Fire Kills 2 Cats, Displaces 4 Residents: Fire Dept.

BREAKING: A Friday fire at a local home was devastating.

PACIFICA, CA — Two cats are dead and four family Pacifica residents are displaced following an early morning fire at their home, fire officials report. The fire, which broke out around 1:15 a.m. Friday in the 40 block of East Lake Avenue, burned through a two-story, split-level home, according to fire investigators.

North County Fire Authority Fire Investigator Clyde Preston says six fire companies were sent to the scene early Friday and found smoke coming from the front of the home. Crews also spotted a resident stranded on a balcony on the side of the house, and rescued them.

All of the other occupants had evacuated during the blaze and no injuries were reported, Preston said.

According to Preston, the fire started in the kitchen, but no official cause has been determined. He said there was extensive damage to kitchen, smoke damage to the level where the fire burned and minor damage to
the floor below the kitchen.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance to occupants of the home who were displaced.
