Person Hit, Killed On Redwood City Caltrain Tracks
The person died Thursday evening, officials report.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — One person died Thursday after they were hit by a passing train in Redwood City, Caltrain officials report. As of Friday morning, San Mateo County coroner's officials said they are not currently releasing information on the victim.
The incident was reported just after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Brewster Avenue grade crossing. The man was hit by a southbound train, which prompted officials to close one of the two Caltrain tracks for about 45 minutes, according to a San Mateo County Transit District spokeswoman.
The man was described by spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew as a trespasser.

None of the 454 people on the train was injured, she said. Both tracks were closed for 27 minutes; the northbound track was reopened at 5:36 p.m., and the southbound track at 5:56 p.m. Trains continued to move at restricted speed through the Brewster Avenue area.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Transit Police Bureau, which patrols the Caltrain corridor, is investigating the accident, resulting in Caltrain's fifth fatality of 2018.
