LIVE-UPDATED ELECTION RESULTS: California's 2016 General Election Races

A live roundup of Tuesday, Nov. 8's election results for president, Senate and 17 propositions from the California Secretary of State.

With more than 19 million registered voters in California, it's no wonder so many are taking to the internet in search of who won local and national races in their region. Though it'll take some time before we have the official, certified results, thanks to technology we have access to fairly frequent results updates from the California Secretary of State's office.

As of Oct. 24, which was the last day to register to vote in this historical presidential election, there are a record 19,411,771 registered voters in California, according to the secretary of state's office. That means approximately 78.04 percent of eligible California citizens are now registered to vote — the highest percentage headed into a general election in 20 years. Back in 2012, there were just over 17 million registered voters in the state.

California has long been a blue state, and the trend of more registered Democrats than Republicans is holding strong, new data shows. For this election, there are 8,720,417 for the former and 5,048,398 for the latter. Approximately 4.7 million have no party preference.
