Redwood City Man Crushed, Killed By Own Vehicle In Crash

Coroner's officials have identified a man killed in the Sacramento-area wreck as a Redwood City resident.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – A Redwood City man was killed when his own vehicle rolled on top of him following a crash in the Sacramento area earlier this month, coroner's officials and the California Highway Patrol tell Patch. Michael Householder, 31, died on May 6 near the scene of the wreck, according to the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Householder was driving a 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer in the area of Samson Boulevard and Iowa Avenue around 10:15 p.m. when the crash happened, the CHP said.

"The driver lost control and struck a parked car," CHP Officer Officer Bernie Pico told Patch. "The collision caused the trailblazer to spin out of control and ejected the driver out of an open window."

Householder landed on a grassy field, and his vehicle rolled on top of him, Pico said. Some witnesses tried to help the man by pushing the vehicle off him and back onto all four wheels, but it was too late.

When responding paramedics got to the scene, the man was declared dead at 10:25 p.m., according to the coroner's office.
