Redwood City Man ID'd In Deadly SamTrans Bus Crash
Transit officials say the man was hit by a contractor-operated SamTrans bus at the Sequoia Caltrain Station in Redwood City.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man who died after being hit by a contractor-operated San Mateo County Transit District bus this week has been identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office. Officials say David Woods of Redwood City died shortly after the early morning incident on Thursday. He was 61.
Woods was hit by the bus at the Sequoia Caltrain Station in Redwood City around 12:48 a.m., according to SamTrans officials. He was taken to Stanford Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
"While it is still early in the investigation, it appears the man was attempting to board the bus from the rear entrance when the incident occurred at the transit center’s bus turnaround area," SamTrans officials said in an emailed statement, adding that Transit Police and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team are handling the investigation.
