'At-Risk' Missing 15-Year-Old Found Safe, Police Say [UPDATED]

BREAKING: Police say the boy, who has Down Syndrome, went missing Wednesday morning.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A special needs teen who went missing in Redwood City on Wednesday morning has been located safe, police report. The 15-year-old boy, who has Down Syndrome and relies on the help of a group or caretaker, was reported to be safe at 11:45 a.m.

Police had previously reported that the boy was last spotted at 8:45 a.m. walking towards Sequoia Station in Redwood City, according to police. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt and was carrying a multi-colored "Mario" backpack.

Police fanned out in search of the boy and asked for the public's help with finding the "at risk" youth.

Officials tell Patch that a Redwood City police officer eventually spotted the teen walking on a local street and helped get him home.
