Sheriff's officials say the man threatened to kill both his mom and sister after a family disturbance escalated.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly threatened to not only kill himself, but his mother and sister as well. The man is now jailed on a slew of charges including making criminal threats and shooting at an inhabited dwelling after authorities discovered he shot at his own mother in a local residence as she hid, sheriff's officials said.

According to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade, deputies were called to a "family disturbance" in the 500 block of Hurlingame Avenue, near Middlefield and Woodside roads, around 6:40 p.m. Saturday.

"Upon arrival, deputies contacted a male subject who was in possession of a stolen handgun," Blankswade said in a news release.
