Sequoia High School to Host Car Show Sunday
More than 500 cars of all makes and models will be on display. Proceeds benefit high school programs.
For one day only this Sunday, will turn into a wonderland of cars.
The annual "Horses to Horsepower" car show will descend upon the high school's campus this Sunday, Oct. 2, starting bright and early at 7 a.m.
"The car show was started in 1993 as a way to support student activities at Sequoia High School," say Larry and Loretta Knight, the event's founders and organizers. "We are now 15 going on 16 years strong, and in the process have raised over $90,000 benefiting the students."

The show has grown by leaps and bounds in its decade and a half, starting with less than 200 cars the first year, and increasing to more than 500 cars that will be on display this Sunday.
Horses to Horsepower offers more than just a chance to marvel at beautiful cars--more than 100 awards are given out as well, such as for cars of a particular color, like Best Yellow Car; Best Truck; Best Commercial Vehicle; and the overall Best Car award. There is also a "Mustang Memorial" award, and a $100 cash prize for the local car club that registers the most cars in the show.

The top four cars each year make it onto the posters and t-shirts the following year. Pictures accompanying this article show the top four vehicles from the 2010 show.
The weather Sunday promises to be beautiful, so Larry and Loretta say they hope a lot of people will come out and enjoy themselves at the show, while supporting Sequoia High School at the same time.
"A great time is had by all," they said. "This is the most beautiful location to have a car show."
The gates at Sequoia High School, 1201 Brewster Ave., will open at 7 a.m. and organizers say the show will go on, rain or shine. There is still an opportunity for car owners to enter the show; the registration fee is $35 and a form to fill out can be downloaded off the event's website at www.horsestohorsepower.net.
