Significant Damage Reported in Recycling Center Fire
The facility sustained significant damage from the fire and the water used to fight the fire, RethinkWaste director says.

SAN CARLOS, CA – Engineers are still assessing the damaged caused by a four-alarm fire at the Shoreway Environmental Center's recycling center in San Carlos Wednesday night, according to the organization that owns the facility.
Fire officials told Patch the incident was first reported at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at 333 Shoreway Road
"Companies arrived to find a large, smoked-out open warehouse full of machinery with recyclables and waste burning," Redwood City fire crews reported on the agency's official Instagram account of the incident.

After the incident, one firefighter was checked out at the hospital for smoke inhalation issues, Patch is told.
Joe La Mariana, executive director of RethinkWaste, said in a statement that the facility sustained significant damage from the fire and the water used to fight the fire.

Engineers will be spending the next few days determining the full scope of the damage to the recycling facility - but repairs are currently expected to take four to six months, La Mariana said.
Meanwhile, the transfer station on site will remain open for business as usual receiving garbage, organics and materials from construction or demolition projects.
