Skeggs Fire: 85 Firefighters Remained Assigned To 50-Acre Peninsula Blaze

BREAKING: Fire officials hope to reach full containment by the end of Friday.

After more than three days, a 50-acre wildfire burning near Woodside in San Mateo County is now nearly contained, fire officials reported Friday. The so-called Skeggs Fire began Monday due to a lightning strike at 7:45 p.m. near Skyline Boulevard and Bear Gulch Road. It's now 80 percent contained.

Firefighters hope to reach full containment by this evening. Friday's resources included 85 fire personnel from 5 engines and 4 companies, fire reports indicated.

"Firefighters continue to mop up and patrol for hot spots in steep terrain and heavy fuels," the latest Cal Fire incident report stated Friday morning.

As of Friday morning, no structures have been damaged due to the blaze.

There has been one reported injury. The injury was minor, according to Cal Fire officials.

Firefighters are continuing to mop up the area and are patrolling for hot spots, officials said.

Kings Mountain Road remains closed between state Highway 35 and Woodside Road.
