SMC Burglary Series Under Investigation

Though no one has been arrested in connection to the crimes, officials said they have leads they are "actively following up on."

PORTOLA VALLEY, CA — San Mateo County sheriff's officials said this week they are investigating at least three home burglaries in the Portola Valley area in recent days. All three happened at unoccupied homes, and two of them happened in the evening hours, officials said.

"Investigators believe that the suspects knocked on the victim’s doors to confirm no one was home prior to burglarizing the houses as this is a very common tactic of residential burglars," sheriff's officials said in a news release.

The burglaries occurred in the 600 block of Westridge Drive, 100 Degas Road and 100 Ash Lane, according to the sheriff's office.
