Thieves Rummage Through Woodside Home As Residents Sleep: Sheriff's Office

The residents awoke to find that they'd been burglarized of jewelry and other items while they lied in bed sleeping, police say. (breaking)

WOODSIDE, CA — A Woodside duo awoke this weekend to something we all fear. They'd had an unwanted and unwelcome guest in their home overnight — and that person (or people) took off with several of their valuable items, sheriff's officials say.

According to San Mateo County Sheriff's Det. Sal Zuno, the burglary happened sometime between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. It's believed that a suspect, or perhaps suspects, forced entry into the residence in the 1-100 block of Upenuf Road.

"Once inside the suspect(s) stole valuables such as jewelry and personal electronics," Zuno said in a press release. "During the burglary, the two occupants in the home were sleeping and were not aware that a burglary was being committed."
