VIDEO: Non-Profit Hosts Fundraiser to Offset District Funding Crisis
The Redwood City Education Foundation hosted its annual "Benefit for a Brighter Future" to fund programs like outdoor education, art and science.

All three attempts to pass a parcel tax for additional funding have failed, so the school district is relying, more than ever, on community fundraising efforts like "Benefit for a Brighter Future" Friday night at the Pacific Shores Center.
Because of the $110,000 raised from last year's event and other fundraisers, students were able to receive SMART, or science, grants, emulate Charles Demuth's masterpiece with chalk, play musical instruments in a group setting and take field trips to the Exploratorium.
