The move follows a workplace investigation and aims to stabilize the department as it pursues reforms, with the temporary appointments running through 2027 under capped contracts funded from existing budgets.
   

2. Museum of Riverside awarded $60K grant to support Harada House (heysocal.com) — Riverside history buffs will be glad to hear the Museum of Riverside has secured a $60,000 national grant to kickstart rehabilitation of the landmark Harada House on Lemon Street downtown. The funding will support crucial foundation and structural work beginning next winter, preserving a key civil rights site and preparing it for future public access and education.
   

3. RCOE's Excellence Through Education Conference Returns to Riverside Convention Center (raincrossgazette.com) — Riverside educators can soon gather at the Riverside Convention Center for the Riverside County Office of Education's Excellence Through Education Conference on Sept. 16–17. The two-day event will draw hundreds of teachers and administrators for keynotes, workshops, wellness activities, and networking focused on improving student support and school systems across the region.
   

4. Local Event: The Little-Known Significance of California in the Civil War (patch.com) — A local history buff from Riverside is helping lead an Inland Empire Civil War Round Table talk on California's overlooked role in the Civil War, from military strategy to political tensions. The presentation will highlight the state's economic contributions and notable California figures, while showcasing the expertise of Riverside resident and veteran Kevin Phillips, who is also finishing a book on the topic.
