• Picking Pumpkins, Building Futures (placersentinel.com) — A Rocklin pumpkin patch at Deer Creek Farm is raising money through October 31 to fund Compassion Planet's mentoring and job-training programs for local young adults leaving foster care. Admission is free, with pumpkin sales, kids' activities, and a boutique all supporting services that help 60–70 Placer and Sacramento County youth each year. 
• Mark Anderson Selected for PCOE Area 5 Provisional Appointment (placermercury.com) — From Rocklin, county education officials announced that Lincoln resident Mark Anderson has been provisionally appointed to represent Area 5 on the Placer County Board of Education through 2028. Anderson brings decades of business, philanthropy, and education-governance experience that will influence decisions affecting Lincoln and Western Placer schools and students.
