Restaurant Watch: Toast to Open New Dining Room on Thursday

And the new ceiling fixtures may have you humming ...

Toast Wine Lounge — now renamed Toast Kitchen + Bar — will open its new dining room in a space adjacent to the original cafe at 5900 College Ave., Oakland, on Thursday, June, 6, according to an announcement on the Toast website.

The original space will continue as the bar and lunch spot.

The new kitchen has a fryer, grill and "real stove," the website says, while the dining room will include both table seating and refurbished booths from the erstwhile Bay City Diner.

Lighting includes what's described as "99 bottles of booze on the ceiling," spirits bottles repurposed into lighting fixtures.

Dinner service begins at 5 p.m., and the menu for early June includes penne, halibut, grilled quail and braised pork shoulder.
