6 Arrested, Deputy Fires At Charging Dog After Responding To Gunfire Call

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Sonoma County sheriff's deputy fired on a dog that charged the deputies as they responded to reports of gunfire at a residence north of Rohnert Park on Tuesday morning, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Four adults and two juveniles were arrested for negligently firing a gun in the backyard of the residence.

The sheriff's office received reports around 11:30 a.m. about gunfire in the 400 block of Scenic Avenue in unincorporated Sonoma County, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

One deputy fired a shot that grazed a pit bull that charged the deputies outside the residence. The dog was treated by a veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery, Crum said.

Deputies found several weapons in the residence, including one on the roof of the residence that was stolen in Rohnert Park in July, Crum said.

Deputies determined six males had been shooting guns at a mound of dirt in the direction of an open road in back of the residence, Crum said.

Carlos Diaz, 21, Daniel Vasquez, 18, both of Santa Rosa, and Clayton Cable, 18, of Rohnert Park were arrested for resisting or obstructing an officer and negligent discharge of a firearm.

Jamie Gonzalez, 19, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Gonzalez had a .40-caliber magazine in his vehicle
that matched the stolen Glock gun found on the roof, Crum said.

The 15-year-old juveniles also were arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm.

One of the juveniles also was arrested for possession of cocaine in his wallet and possession of narcotics while armed with a firearm.

The other juvenile also was arrested for resisting or obstructing an officer and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Crum said.
