Community Auditions Coming Up For 2 Plays With SRJC

Online auditions for all ages will be held for performances of "Murder on the Orient Express" and "It's a Wonderful Life."

SANTA ROSA, CA — Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the show(s) will go on at Santa Rosa Junior College!

Online auditions are scheduled next week for two, upcoming SRJC Theatre Arts productions — the Agatha Christie murder-mystery "Murder on the Orient Express" and a musical adaptation of the classic"It's a Wonderful Life." (Auditions for youngsters' roles, however, are Saturday, Aug. 15.)

The auditions are open to the community, with all ages, races, ethnicities and genders welcome to try out for roles. Preliminary auditions will be Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22, with callbacks Sunday, Aug. 23.

Do note, that children's auditions for the younger roles in "It's a Wonderful Life" are Saturday, Aug. 15 via Zoom, with pre-recorded submissions due by 5 p.m.

"Once cast, everyone enrolls in at least one class so then everyone becomes an SRJC student," the school said.

All rehearsals and performances will be conducted online via Zoom. Live or pre-recorded auditions are allowed.

Performances of "Murder on the Orient Express," adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig, will be Oct. 16-17 and Oct. 23-24, directed by Laura Downing-Lee.

"It's a Wonderful Life" will be performed Nov. 27-28 and Dec. 4-5. Music direction will be by Janis Dunson Wilson, with stage adaptation and direction from John Shillington, choreography by Alyce Finwall and vocal direction by Tina Lloyd Meals.
