Controlled Burn Set For Jenner Headlands Preserve

The Sonoma Lake Napa Unit of Cal Fire warns area residents that smoke will be visible.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – Cal Fire and The Wildlands Conservancy will conduct a controlled burn on Tuesday and possibly other days later in the week at the Jenner Headlands Preserve.

The primary goal of the prescribed burn is to reintroduce fire as a natural element of the ecosystem, according to Cal Fire. If there are any indications that the burn cannot be conducted in a safe manner, like high
winds or local fires, it will be cancelled.

The Sonoma Lake Napa Unit of Cal Fire will conduct the burn between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Smoke will be visible in the Duncan Mills and Cazadero areas and along Highway 116 between Cazadero Highway and Highway 1.
