Convicted Sex Offender Arrested At Santa Rosa High School: Police
Students were on campus for summer programs, and the 53-year-old did not have a legitimate reason or permission to be there, police said.
SANTA ROSA, CA — Santa Rosa police said a 53-year-old man was arrested Thursday on the campus of Santa Rosa High School, somewhere he was not legally allowed to be because of his status as a sex offender. Santa Rosa police Lt. Dan Marincik said SRPD received information at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the local parole office that Liam Atkins, a Santa Rosa transient and parolee, was possibly on the 1235 Mendocino Ave. campus.
"Atkins ... is required to register as a sex offender due to a prior conviction," Marincik said. "Additionally, he is not allowed to be present on a school campus."
Officers responded and located Atkins at the high school, where according to police, several students were participating in summer programs.
