Cotati-Rohnert Park School Parcel Tax Measure on Tuesday's Ballot

Measure B, which would renew an existing $89 annual parcel tax for eight years, will maintain reading, writing, math and science programs.

Parcel tax measures in two Sonoma County school districts are on the ballot Tuesday.

Voters in the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School will consider Measure B, which would renew an existing $89 annual parcel tax for eight years starting July 1, 2017.

The tax revenue would go toward maintaining reading, writing, math and science programs, attracting and retaining qualified teachers, keeping libraries open and preparing students for college and careers.

Senior citizens are eligible for an exemption from the tax, and funds will not go toward administrative salaries. The measure requires two-thirds approval.

Voters in the Wilmar Union School District in Petaluma will vote on Measure C, a $50 annual parcel tax that will last eight years starting July 1, 2016. It also needs two-thirds approval.

The tax revenue will go toward keeping libraries open, maintaining computer and technology programs and reading and music programs.
