Windsor Police Shooting: County DA Delays Charges
The case involves a man who was jailed for assault with a vehicle and resisting police officers in east Windsor.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- The Sonoma County District Attorney's Office has delayed filing charges against a San Francisco man who was jailed for assault with a vehicle and resisting police officers in Windsor on Dec. 11.
Christopher Cormack Eastwood, 49, was shot by a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy when he allegedly ran toward deputies after a vehicle pursuit that ended in the Windsor Palms Plaza in east Windsor.
The deputy, identified Dec. 13 as Christopher Haas, a 10-year veteran, saw Eastwood point a black object at him as if it were a handgun, Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum said. Haas fired several rounds, one of which
struck Eastwood in the shoulder, Crum said.

The object turned out to be a black metal bicycle lock with a yellow handle. Eastwood fought with the deputies who then shot him with their Tasers to take him to the ground and arrest him, Crum said.
The incident began at 4:50 p.m. Sunday in Petaluma when a woman called the sheriff's office to report her son-in-law was in his car with a handgun, and he said he wanted to be killed by law enforcement, Crum said.

Eastwood drove north from Petaluma in a gold Volkswagen sedan to Merner Drive off Old Redwood Highway in Windsor, Crum said. Another caller told the sheriff's office around 5:30 p.m. that a man in a gold car drove
onto a curb in an attempt to hit him, then turned around and sped by him several more times, Crum said.
Deputies were aware of Eastwood's suicidal statements when they tried to stop his vehicle, but Eastwood drove north on Old Redwood Highway to Lakeville Road, turned around and drove south on Old Redwood Highway to the Palms Plaza, Crum said.
Eastwood is being held under $100,000 bail in the Sonoma County Jail.
