Fire Causes $100K Damage To Cabinet, Countertop Shop

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Tuesday night fire at a cabinet and countertop shop in Santa Rosa caused $100,000 in damage, fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to John's Formica Shop at 2439 Piner Road at 9:35 p.m., forced their way through the gates around the property and saw heavy smoke from the back side of the 400-square-foot warehouse.
Firefighters got the fire under control within half an hour. It caused significant heat and smoke damage to the facility, which is used to produce countertops, shower stalls and sinks, fire officials said.

Only modest damage was caused to the concrete and masonry block building.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire, but said that it appears to be accidental.
