Hey, Rohnert Park and Cotati Pups! Off-Leash Swim Sessions Set In Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – The Spring Lake Water Bark, an event that allows dogs to swim and play off-leash at the Spring Lake Swimming Lagoon, will take place on four dates this September.

Water Barks will be held on Sunday, September 18, and Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25.

The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. In addition, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is “Mellow Monday” for dog owners who prefer a calmer Water Bark experience.

The Spring Lake Regional Park Swimming Lagoon is located at 393 Violetti Road in Santa Rosa.

“Dog owners in Sonoma County are so fortunate, with more than 50 county parks that welcome dogs on leash and three off-leash dog parks at our county parks,” noted Melissa Kelley, executive director of the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation. “The Water Bark events offer yet another opportunity for visitors to enjoy county parks with their canine companions.”

Entry fees for the Water Bark are $5 per dog for Sonoma County Regional Parks’ members and $7 per dog for non-members. Parking is free for members or $7 per vehicle for non-members.

New this year, dog owners can purchase professional photos of their dogs in action. Award-winning local photographer Julie Vader will take photos on site at each Water Bark. Photos will subsequently be for sale online at www.julievader.com, with 50 percent of photo sales benefiting the Parks Foundation.

The Spring Lake Water Bark benefits the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, which funds projects in Sonoma County Regional Parks, including the construction of new trails to be enjoyed by dogs and their owners.

The Spring Lake Water Bark is held in the park’s swimming lagoon. The lagoon is free of blue-green algae, which has been present at the Russian River. The lagoon is slightly chlorinated and filtered to ensure safe water for the dogs.
