'High-Risk' Sex Offender Moves To Rohnert Park: Public Safety Officials

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- Rohnert Park public safety officials advised the community Friday that a convicted sex offender whom they believe has a "high risk" of re-offending, contacted the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety last week to inform them that he has relocated from Los Angeles County with the intent of living in Rohnert Park.

Daniel “Dan” Patrick Cilley told local authorities he is currently staying with family at the McDouall Apartments on College View Drive in Rohnert Park, authorities said.

"Cilley is required to register as sex offender after being convicted of a sex offense in Los Angeles County earlier this year," Rohnert Park DPS said in a statement. "Cilley is currently on probation out of Los Angeles County and he is not supposed to be alone with any minor without a parent or guardian present or photograph or videotape minors without prior written consent, and he is to stay away from places where minors congregate or frequent."

A news article out of Los Angeles County reported that Cilley was "known as the 'downtown predator,' for his alleged habit of accosting local women with lewd comments and questions." In May, Cilley was convicted of one count of child annoying for harassing a 15-year-old girl, Ladowntownnews.com reported.

Cilley is described as a 33-year-old white man, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and 200 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Rohnert Park DPS said its detectives located "numerous social media, and other online posts by Cilley with sexually offensive material," and that the information about Cilley is being released pursuant to Megan's Law.

Rohnert Park DPS noted that it is illegal to use the information about Cilley or any other sex registrant to commit a crime against them or to engage in illegal discrimination or harassment against any sex registrant.
