Man In Critical Condition After 'Violent Assault' In Casino Lot

Deputies arrested a suspect for the attack that followed a Graton Resort parking-lot confrontation over a vehicle-door ding, officials said.

ROHNERT PART, CA – A man was arrested in connection with a "violent" parking-lot brawl that began with an argument over a vehicle door and left one victim with critical injuries Saturday night at Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park, according to officials.

Deputies initially responded at 11:30 p.m. to the casino for a fight that occurred in the parking lot, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Monday. Law enforcement arrived after the fight concluded, however investigators determined a man, later identified as Morgan Lewis Jr., 44 of Lake County, argued with several individuals when their SUV’s door purportedly struck his truck, deputies said.

During the confrontation, Lewis’ girlfriend allegedly was pushed to the ground and he was punched in the face, officials said, adding that neither Lewis nor his girlfriend requested prosecution as they were unsure which person assaulted them.

No arrests were made and deputies left, but were called back within 10 minutes after Lewis saw one of the subjects believed to be involved in the earlier argument and reportedly shoved the man causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete sidewalk, the agency said.

Following what deputies described as a "violent assault," the victim, a 57-year-old from Santa Rosa, was "unresponsive and unconscious" and was transported to a local hospital's intensive-care unit, where he was listed in critical condition, officials said.
