Mark West Springs Fire Quickly Contained
The blaze prompted the closure of Mark West Springs Road.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Forward progress of a vegetation fire Friday on Mark West Springs Road was quickly stopped, officials said.
The Mark Fire started around 11 a.m. in the 1500 block of Mark West Springs Road in Santa Rosa.
As of 11:30 a.m., the blaze had charred 1 acre, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma Lake Napa Unit.

No evacuations were issued but the fire did result in some road and lane closures.
A Sig-Alert was requested at 11:47 a.m. for Mark West Springs Road, which was closed between Riebli and Redwood Hill roads because of the fire, California Highway Patrol reported.

Just before 1 p.m., CHP said the roadway was clear and the Sig-Alert was no longer in effect.
Cal Fire said crews would remain in the area for a few hours to put out hotspots.
"Expect delays when traveling in the area, the road is down to one lane," Cal Fire said around 1 p.m.
