Rohnert Park Addresses Public's Concerns Over Burned-Out RV
The RV caught fire two weeks ago on private property, making it the property owner's responsibility to move, the city said.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — The city of Rohnert Park addressed recent inquiries from the public over a burned-out recreational vehicle that has created an eyesore.
The RV caught fire around 10 a.m. Dec. 15 in a parking lot at 6255 Commerce Blvd. and was extinguished by police and fire personnel with the city of Rohnert Park.
"We’d like to quickly bring you up to speed on the issues at hand and the City’s response to date," city officials said Thursday morning in a Nixle alert.

First, the property owner was notified by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety of their responsibility to remove the burned vehicle.
"While the City has the ability to remove nuisance vehicles from private property through an abatement process, the City needs to give the private property owner the opportunity to correct the nuisance prior to taking action," the city said. "Accordingly, the city mailed a written notice of violation to the property owner on Dec. 16, directing that the vehicle be removed prior to Dec. 31 (a copy of the notice was also provided to the tenant)."

Should the conditions of violation not be resolved by Friday, police said Code Compliance will escalate enforcement by issuing one or more administrative citations to the property owner and/or initiating the abatement process.
Abatement of nuisances on private property is a legal process that does take some time to implement, the city said.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and work with the property owner."
Code compliance or service requests can be made through the city's website at: Rpcity.org/247.
