Rohnert Park Officer Involved In Traffic Crash
The public safety officer was in a marked police car when the collision occurred and was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — An on-duty Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officer was injured in a car crash Thursday night, police said.
Around 7:30 p.m., the officer was driving a marked police vehicle northbound on Country Club Drive at Eleanor Avenue and the driver of a Lexus SUV was traveling southbound on Country Club Drive. As the officer and the other driver entered the intersection, their cars collided — resulting in moderate damage to both vehicles, police said.
The driver of the Lexus was not injured.

The officer was injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, then released.
The California Highway Patrol's Santa Rosa Office responded and is investigating the collision.

CHP Officer David deRutte explained that Country Club Drive and Eleanor Avenue is a four-way posted stop sign intersection.
"After both vehicles stopped, the Lexus turned left onto Eleanor Avenue in front of the patrol vehicle and a crash occurred," deRutte said.
The officer was taken to Kaiser for treatment of minor injuries, deRutte told Patch.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation Friday.
