Sonoma Co. Deputy Involved In Ukiah Motel Shooting

A male suspect allegedly aimed a gun at detectives, and a woman was found dead of a gunshot wound in a room, officials said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a Thursday night shooting at a Ukiah motel that ended with one man arrested and one woman dead, officials said.

A team of Sonoma County Sheriff's Office detectives, who were looking for suspects in a Dec. 20 residential burglary in Sonoma County, found the suspects' vehicle and two armed suspects in a room around 8 p.m. at the Sunrise Inn at 650 S. State St. near Highway 101, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

The shooting ensued when a man leveled a gun toward the detectives. A detective fired several shots and the male suspect was taken into custody, Crum said.

A female suspect in the room was found dead of a gunshot wound, and it's not known how, when or by whom she was shot, Crum said. A Mendocino County Sheriff's Office detective also fired a weapon
in the hotel room, Crum said.

The incident is under investigation with the Mendocino County District Attorney’s Office.
