SONOMA-NAPA COUNTIES, CA — Expect to see smoke in the region Wednesday as Cal Fire has scheduled a 17-acre controlled burn through 5 p.m. in the Mitsui Ranch area at the top of Sonoma Mountain, the agency's Sonoma-Lake-Napa unit said.

The operation aims to control invasive species, cleanse wildfire debris and reduce opportunity for destructive fire, Cal Fire said.

The Cal Fire-permitted prescribed burn will be conducted by Fire Forward professionals at the property owned by the Sonoma Mountain Preserve Foundation, officials said.
