Live music is returning to Mount Tamalpais with Sound Summit: A Benefit for the Mountain on Saturday, September 19, 2015, from 11am – 7pm at the historic Mountain Theater, a 4,000-seat natural stone amphitheater set high atop Mount Tam with stunning views of San Francisco Bay. Sponsored by Roots & Branches Conservancy and produced by Michael Nash, the executive producer of Mount Tam Jam in 2013, Sound Summit will feature the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dr. John and The Nite Trippers, The Mother Hips, Portland Cello Project, and The Mother Truckers.

“As its name implies, Sound Summit is an intentional double-entendre – at once a musical gathering and an image of a strong and whole peak,” says producer Michael Nash. “One exists to help sustain the other.”

Sanctioned and supported by Mount Tamalpais State Park, Sound Summit’s goal is to raise funding for and awareness of the mountain’s needs. “Most of the work it takes to keep the mountain safe and seemingly untouched by the modern world tends to escape our general focus, but it is a concerted and ongoing effort, deserving of our attention and support,” adds Nash.

Sound Summit retains Tam Jam’s warmly embraced spirit, structure, and intention to create an annual celebration of the mountain and evolve a sustainable revenue source. “We feel Sound Summit is a well-wrought, creative and dynamic gesture of support for a very special place in the neighborhood,” says Nash. “It is as much a community spirit as it is a community event.”

Sound Summit features musical performances by the following artists:

· Tedeschi Trucks Band – the eclectic and supremely talented Grammy

award-winning ensemble features Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks

fronting an 11-member band known for their stellar, high-energy sets of

rock, roots, R&B, and more.

· Dr. John and The Nite Trippers – New Orleans legend, multiple

Grammy award-winner, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee,

acclaimed for his signature blend of funk, rhythm & blues, voodoo

mysticism, and Creole roots.

· The Mother Hips – A Bay Area favorite, The Mother Hips conjure their

own heady brew of sun-drenched California soul, rock, boogie, blues, and

jam-band, sprinkled with a dash of country.

· Portland Cello Project – the offbeat, genre-blurring, and always

engaging cello ensemble lights up crowds with compelling sets from a

repertoire of more than 1,000 pieces of music. No two shows are alike.

· The Mother Truckers – Opening the show with their high-energy brand of music, these Marin natives are thrilled to be back home in the Bay Area after a decade in Austin. A creative blend of blues, country, and rock ‘n roll, The Mother Truckers’ sound is sure to set the tone for an amazing day on the mountain.
