Students at Merryhill Preschool in Santa Rosa Release Butterflies

Students released butterflies and planted gardens around their schoolyard to celebrate the environment

Students at Merryhill Preschool in Santa Rosa have caught the environmental bug! Students recently celebrated Earth Day by releasing butterflies throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Leading up to Earth Day, students observed caterpillars, their cocoon development and transformation into butterflies. To learn more about caring for the environment, students also planted gardens around their schoolyard with teachers and parents. Throughout the year, students will continue to care for the gardens as the plants grow. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
