Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Redwood Tree In Rohnert Park
The 19-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of hit and run, DUI and gun charges, Rohnert Park police said.
ROHNERT PARK, CA — A Santa Rosa man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his SUV and it caught fire, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.
Around 4 a.m. Saturday, officers found a burning Jeep SUV on its roof near Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane. The SUV had collided with a redwood tree.
Officers found a man — later identified as 19-year-old Raul Gijon — walking away from the scene and noticed he was missing a shoe.

Gijon had a 40-caliber magazine on him, and officers found a 40-caliber ghost gun — a gun with no serial number — with no magazine on the ground next to him, police said.
Gijon was determined to have a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent — three times the legal limit, police said.
Gijon was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, tampering with serial numbers, possession of a loaded firearm in public and hit and run, police said.
