Two Men- One From Rohnert Park - Nabbed In Connection With Home Burglary In Petaluma

One allegedly ran after he found himself facing a resident with a gun.

Petaluma police arrested two residential burglary suspects Monday afternoon who also are suspected of burglarizing another home nearby, a police sergeant said.

A resident on McGregor Avenue in east Petaluma woke up around noon Monday to find a man in the doorway of his bedroom, Sgt. Ron Klein said.

The intruder fled after the resident pointed a gun and yelled at him to get out of the house.

The resident’s neighbor got the Buick’s license plate number except for the first digit, and a police officer found the vehicle a half-mile away several minutes later on Caulfield Lane near St. Francis Drive, Klein said.

Police questioned the two occupants of the Buick in the Gateway Plaza Shopping Center at 919 Lakeville St. and identified them as Kevin Angulo, 19, of Petaluma and Victor Figueroa, 19, of Rohnert Park, Klein said.

Video from one of the houses near the McGregor Avenue home showed two people believed to be the driver and passenger running from the house and driving away in the Buick, Klein said. Police found a black Sentry box, an envelope with cash and a Hewlett-Packard laptop computer in the Buick, Klein said.

None of the items were connected to the McGregor Avenue burglary, and it could not be determined if any items were taken from that residence.

Police then received a call around 2:35 p.m. from a nearby St. Francis Drive resident who said a Sentry box, an envelope with cash and a Hewlett-Packard laptop were taken during a burglary, Klein said. The St. Francis Drive resident identified the items found in the Buick and opened the Sentry box with a key.

Angulo was arrested and booked in the Sonoma County jail for conspiracy, being an accessory to a crime and a probation violation, Klein said. Figueroa was arrested and booked for burglary and conspiracy.
