Fire Reported Monday at Angelo's Smokehouse in Petaluma

No one was injured, and the blaze was contained to storage containers.

A fire burned storage containers at Angelo’s Smokehouse in unincorporated Sonoma County east of Petaluma Monday afternoon, a fire captain said.

The fire at 2700 Adobe Road was reported at 1:24 p.m. and was contained within 50 minutes, Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District Capt. Pete Albini said.

The 20- and 30-foot long containers underneath a roof were used to store a wine collection and dry goods, Albini said.

The fire caused an estimated $20,000 damage to each container, $50,000 to the wine collection and $20,000 to the dry goods that include spices and beef jerky, Albini said.

The fire did not threaten the smokehouse or deli on the property, Albini said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Firefighters from the Petaluma, Rancho Adobe, Lakeville, Cal Fire and Wilmar departments responded, Albini said.

Angela Ibleto, daughter of the business owner Angelo Ibleto, said a spark from a compressor might have started the fire. “Only the storage area burned, the shop and the business are intact,” she said.

No one was injured, Angela said.
