Philip Sanchez, 66, of Bodega Bay, was able to cling to Bodega Rock and survived the accident. He was rescued by the crew from the sheriff’s office’s helicopter Henry 1.

None of the five on board were wearing life vests although they were available on the boat, sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha said.

It is not believed that alcohol or drugs played any part in the incident, Focha said. The sheriff’s helicopter and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the incident around 10 a.m. Saturday.

The group had left Bodega Bay around 8:30 a.m. to catch crab, Focha said.
