Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. A car was struck by a train Monday in Lincoln, killing the adult driver and sending the juvenile passenger to the UC Davis Trauma Center. The car was traveling on Ferrari Blvd. near the intersection of Lincoln Blvd. around 5:30 p.m., when the collision occurred. The train pushed the car down the tracks until it fell into the Auburn Ravine, according to police. The Lincoln Police and Union Pacific are investigating. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  2. Neighbors in the area of Blue Oaks Boulevard and Fiddyment Road reported hearing a loud thud in the vicinity of their mailbox cluster. Police were called to investigate. They found a vehicle similar to one that was described by witnesses as being a "suspicious" vehicle. Well, they were right. In the backseat of the vehicle, police found the mailbox cluster. They also located the suspect, along with drugs and paraphernalia. Victor Acosta of Phoenix, Arizona was booked on charges of grand theft, mail theft and various drug charges. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  3. The U.S. Forest Service has seized PG&E equipment as they continue to investigate the Mosquito Fire. A federal report says they have conducted "an initial assessment that the fire started in the area of the Utility’s power line on National Forest System Lands.” A criminal investigation is also underway. According to FOX40, "PG&E previously filed a report on Sept. 8 about 'electrical activity' occurring around the time and near where the Mosquito Fire started." Neither PG&E nor the U.S. Forest Service has made a determination as to the cause of the fire. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  4. As Roseville Transit continues to work to be more environmentally friendly, they have received grant funding of $13.6 million from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). This will allow them to purchase seven commuter electric buses and eight electric dial-a-ride buses to replace existing vehicles, as well as put the infrastructure in to charge and maintain the new vehicles. 5. Roseville is at the cutting edge of hydrogeological innovation. There are currently two new groundwater wells under construction in West Roseville. They have been under construction for nearly a year and will be ready to go online next month. Curious as to how Roseville will utilize these wells and our groundwater program for defense against drought years? Check out this YouTube video from the city!
