Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:
- Jen Warner, president of Raley’s Division, West Sacramento, offers insights on what the new expansion of Raley's O-N-E means for the Roseville community. Jen shared, “the difference in this store is our expansive selection of better-for-you products alongside products from local farmers and providers. To me, the most important part of this format is the education piece, which allows shoppers to better understand how to consume healthier foods, so they aren’t overwhelmed." And the head of produce and floral, Michael Schutt, is on the same page. "I feel we have created an environment where organic, experiential, and value coalesce. This is brought to life through many specialty and unique items from pink pineapple to exotic mushrooms—things many customers have never seen, let alone purchased." Pink pineapple? I want to try that! I'm headed out to Raley's O-N-E now! (And Now U Know)
- The Rocklin History Museum, located in the historic Moon House on the corner of San Francisco Street and Rocklin Road, opened its doors in 2002. That means this year it is celebrating its 20 year anniversary! Historical Society members worked for years alongside Roy Ruhkala to make Roy's dream of a museum a reality. Learn the backstory and celebrate 20 years of victory in this article from Gold Country Media. (Gold Country Media)
- Loomis Town Council gave the go-ahead this week for Sierra Christian Church to pursue a controversial, 70-unit senior housing project on five rural acres on Rocklin Road just east of Sierra College Boulevard. This is just a preliminary approval for the group to make a proposal. "You're not approving anything," Loomis planning consultant Anders Hauge told the council Tuesday. "All you're saying is Sierra Christian can come forward and make an application to the town." The council approved the effort 4-0 with Vice Mayor Danny Cartwright absent. (Gold Country Media)
- Roseville has added a couple of tentative dates for more campfire events! During these events you get to listen to Native American stories and roast marshmallows around the campfire at the outdoor amphitheater of the Maidu Museum & Historic Site. These events are very popular and tend to sell out quickly, so it's exciting that they may be adding some dates. I'll try to let you know when they open the registration, but don't wait for me! Check out this link from time to time and jump on them when they open. (roseville.ca.us)
