  1. Congressman Kevin Kiley of Rocklin gave his guest ticket for the U.S. State of the Union Address to the mother of a young Rocklin man killed by a fentanyl pill that he bought over the Internet. Laura Didier, Zach Didier's mother, will head to Washington, D.C. to attend the speech Tuesday. She will be accompanied by Zach's father, who will be in Washington, D.C. to lend support to the cause. “So many kids don't really fully grasp what this [fentanyl] crisis is all about,” Laura Didier said. “It's just imperative that we, as grownups, and as leaders, leaders in our country, and leaders in our schools, just envelop young people with knowledge.” (KCRA Sacramento)
  2. Speaking of fentanyl... a Granite Bay woman is under arrest for allegedly trying to sell fentanyl to an undercover police officer. If that isn't bad enough, authorities say she brought her 4-year-old along for the deal. Natasha Trusnik, 33, of Sacramento, was taken into custody and is "facing charges of transportation and sales of narcotics as well as child endangerment." (CBS Sacramento via MSN)
  3. Are you ready for the annual St. Baldrick’s “Brave the Shave” event? Roseville is gearing up! The city is expecting to "see many new participants as well as the famed Bald and Beautiful Team led by team captain and local luminary, Aldo Pineschi." Volunteers will have their heads shaved in the name of charity. Proceeds will benefit Keaton’s Childhood Cancer Alliance. Are you ready to brave the shave? Volunteers can sign up today! (Roseville Today)
  4. You've heard of the Electric Company and the Electric Slide, but how about the Electric Pickle? The City of Roseville is about to get "two hotels and three restaurants, [and] the project will have an entertainment and sports complex called Electric Pickle." The 11-acre project is called Roseville Junction and it will be adjacent to the Westfield Galleria at the junction of Highway 65. The sports complex will have pickleball courts, hence the name, Electric Pickle. "This is going to have a draw,” said Roseville economic development manager Wayne Wiley. “It's going to bring people to Roseville, and it's going to create even more synergy with surrounding developments —at the Westfield Galleria, at The Fountains." (KCRA Sacramento)
  5. Thanks to a decision by the Roseville City Council on Wednesday, you can still trade in your grass for cash! The council funded an additional $200,000 for the program, which had run out of funds. Residents who agree to replace their lawn with water-efficient landscaping can receive $1.50 per square foot of grass, up to a maximum of $2,000. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
