Cal Fire Steps Up Staffing In NorCal Amid Fire Weather
Cal Fire is increasing its staffing and pre-positioning crews around Northern California to prepare for potential wildfires this week.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As dry winds and low humidity create dangerous fire weather conditions across Northern California this week, Cal Fire said it is increasing staffing and pre-positioning crews to prepare for potential wildfires.
Crews around the region will now be staffed 24 hours per day, with strike teams pre-positioned in Shasta, Glenn, Butte, Yolo and Santa Clara Counties. Cal Fire is also stationing helicopters in Sonoma, Chico and Livermore.
"We have increased our staffing, but need the public to remain vigilant as dry north winds can increase the chance of a spark igniting a major fire,” Cal Fire Chief Thom Porter said in a statement.
