First-Annual “PGA Caddies for HOPE Par 3 Contest”

VACAVILLE, Calif. — The Northern California PGA Foundation is calling all golfers to sign-up and participate in the first-annual “PGA Caddies for HOPE Par 3 Contest.” A fundraising initiative that supports PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the Foundation’s military pillar and the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, the event will take place on May 30, 2021 at Swenson Park Executive Golf Course in Stockton, Calif. A replica of the famous Par 3 contest that takes place each year during golf's first Major in Augusta, GA, the “PGA Caddies for HOPE Par 3 Contest” is a fun, charitable event that is created to support local Veterans in Northern California who participate in PGA HOPE. In collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being. The PGA HOPE golf sessions, which are offered at NO cost to Veterans by Northern California PGA Professionals, offer an opportunity to learn and play the game of golf, which is a proven activity that has helped thousands of Veterans assimilate back into their community through the social interaction the game provides.

As part of the contest, which is open to men and women golfers of any age and skill level, participants will choose a family member or friend to serve as their caddy while competing and wearing white coveralls (Just like at Augusta) with the player’s name on the back of the caddie uniform. Depending on the player’s level of competitiveness, the caddie may finish out a putt or hit a ball at the player’s discretion. In addition, a 9-hole golf outing will be held on May 30 as a compliment to the Par 3 contest. Interested golfers can register and join “PGA HOPE” at the golf outing. The “PGA Caddies for HOPE Par 3 Contest” is part of an entire family fun day on May 30th at Swenson Park Executive Golf Course, and will include golf, prizes, live music and the great outdoors on a beautiful golf course covered with oak trees and shade.

“We are very excited to extend our 2021 PGA HOPE programming to Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton and use this exciting contest to kick-off the season and help promote the program, and its importance to Veterans,” said Max Hecker, Operations Manager, Northern California PGA Foundation. “The NCPGA Foundation operates one of the largest PGA HOPE programs in the country at eleven locations throughout the region and we have proudly served over 1,200 veterans since 2015.”
