Graduates like Patricia Wiggins now volunteer to support others, and the group is inviting community members to back its mission at an annual gala fundraiser on Sept. 25.

California's San Francisco Bay-Delta water protections set for modernization (actionnewsnow.com) — From Sacramento, state water officials have unveiled a major plan to modernize protections for the Sacramento River and San Francisco Bay-Delta, a key water source for millions of Californians. The proposal boosts river flows, restores tens of thousands of habitat acres, recognizes tribal cultural water uses, and opens a public comment period ahead of an October adoption hearing.
   

4. CDFW Invites Input on Northern Sacramento Valley Hunting Opportunities (ca.gov) — Hunters in and around the Sacramento region can weigh in on Northern Sacramento Valley hunting opportunities at an online California Department of Fish and Wildlife meeting on Aug. 25. Officials will outline habitat and water conditions and discuss state areas like Gray Lodge and Upper Butte Basin, plus the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex, while taking public comments on access and management.
