Sacramento adds pedestrian islands and curb extensions to high-risk Royal Oaks corridor (nsarrow.com) — New pedestrian islands and curb extensions are being installed this week on Royal Oaks Drive in Sacramento, improving safety for Woodlake Elementary students, families, and nearby workers. The quick-build project adds high-visibility markings and curb changes near the light rail station to slow drivers and make crossings more noticeable for everyone walking through the corridor.
   

3. Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in Sacramento County, CHP says (kcra.com) — A motorcyclist in his 30s died after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night at Watt Avenue and Arden Way in Sacramento County, according to CHP. Investigators say a crossover SUV turned into his path, then drove away, and the case remains under investigation.
   

4. Law enforcement officers arrest 4 Lodi men for gun trafficking (fox40.com) — A major gun and drug trafficking investigation tied to violence in Stockton and Lodi has led to multiple arrests and federal charges, with the Sacramento grand jury indicting four Lodi men. Authorities say the Varrio Mojado Surenos gang funneled weapons and narcotics through San Joaquin and Sacramento counties, and the defendants now face serious federal prison time if convicted.
