3 Struck By Coaster Trains Over Labor Day Weekend In San Diego County
A man and a woman were killed and another man suffered major injuries in three separate collisions, authorities said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Three people were struck by Coaster commuter trains over Labor Day weekend in San Diego County.
A man and a woman were killed and another man suffered major injuries in three separate collisions, authorities said Tuesday.
In the latest incident, a man was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a northbound Coaster train at 9 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Via De La Valle and Camino Del Mar in Del Mar, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"The man sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment," sheriff's Sgt. Jason King said.
Earlier the same day, a woman was hit and killed by a northbound Coaster train around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Morena Boulevard and Asher Street in San Diego, King said.

On Sunday, a man was fatally struck by a northbound Coaster train at 3:25 p.m. near the intersection of Pacific Highway and West Washington Street in San Diego, King said.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the man and woman and determine their cause and manner of deaths, King said.
The sheriff's department's Transit Enforcement Unit was investigating all three crashes.
