SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should know that, according to the National Weather Service, it's expected to heat up in parts of the region while staying cloudy and cool along the coast again this week.

"High pressure aloft will bring warmer days to the valleys, mountains and deserts through Wednesday," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday. "Thursday and Friday will be slightly cooler, then warmer again next weekend."

In coastal Los Angles and Orange counties, residents can expect patchy fog, drizzle and cool mornings in the upper 60s and low 70s for much of the week.
