7 More Deaths As Coronavirus Cases Surpass 2,000 In San Diego
Officials reported seven more deaths and 82 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, bringing the region's totals to 2,012 cases and 60 deaths.
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Seven more people have died as the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus have surpassed 2,000 in San Diego County.
Officials also reported 82 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, bringing the region's totals to 2,012 cases and 60 deaths.
The latest victims were four men and three women between 64 to 100 years old. All had underlying health issues, said Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county's public health officer.

"Our sincere sympathies and condolences go out to the family and friends of all the people who have died because of COVID-19," Wooten said. "The best way to protect those at higher risk of complications from COVID-19 is by staying at your regular home and wearing a face covering when in public."

Nearly 28,000 tests have been administered to San Diegans. To date, 2,012 people have tested positive for COVID-19.
Of the county's confirmed cases, 50.5 percent were men and 49.1 percent were women. The gender of six people was unknown.
A total of 488 people have been hospitalized since the pandemic first hit the county, including 173 who were placed in intensive care. County health officials estimate 681 people have recovered since their initial tests.
Of the people who have tested positive, 24.3 percent have been hospitalized and 8.6 percent have been sent to the ICU. The county's death rate has increased to 3 percent. All three percentages have been increasing steadily over the last week.
