SAN DIEGO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a warming trend later this week, according to the National Weather Service.
"Near to slightly below average temperatures expected through Monday," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Sunday. "Gradual warming is forecast through the week, with temperatures reaching above average by Tuesday. Hottest conditions are expected Thursday through Saturday with areas of moderate heat risk expected for inland locations."
In other news, a crash involving a fire truck left two people, including a child, dead; a fire broke out on board a U.S. Navy ship under construction at a shipyard; a man and two young boys were shot to death in what police are investigating as a double homicide-suicide; and three people were stabbed during a fight at a pier.
Also, two children were recovered from the vehicle of a person arrested in connection with a domestic incident and attempted kidnapping.
Plus, President Donald Trump abruptly ended an interview with NBC News after host Kristen Welker challenged his claims that California's Tuesday elections were rigged.
