Burn Permit Suspension Lifted For San Diego County

SAN DIEGO, CA — Cal Fire lifted its burn permit suspension Monday in San Diego County.

Burn permits are required for all agricultural and residential burning. San Diego County Fire Chief Tony Meacham said people with current and valid agricultural and residential burn permits can resume burning from 8 a.m. to sunset on permissible burn days.

Agricultural burns must be inspected by Cal Fire prior to burning. Inspections may also be required for residential burns, according to Cal Fire. Residents must verify it is a permissive burn day prior to burning and record their intention to burn by contacting their local Cal Fire station.

Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and the chance of winter weather has reduced the threat of wildfires, according to Cal Fire. Cal Fire officials advised property owners and residents to use caution while conducting debris or agricultural burns, follow all guidelines, and maintain control of the fire.
