SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should know that cloudy skies and gusty winds are expected this week in parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service.

"A large-scale trough over western North America will persist through this week," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Monday. "Temperatures will remain below seasonal averages with gusty winds across the mountains and deserts. A closed upper level low will move across the region on Monday, which will bring the coolest and windiest conditions overall. Low clouds will continue nights and mornings, retreating back to the coast each afternoon."

In other news, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake rattled the San Diego area Monday morning. The quake was felt in Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's "Did You Feel It?" map. The quake struck after an earthquake swarm was recorded Saturday in Imperial County, east of San Diego.

Sean "Diddy" Combs admitted that he beat his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway in 2016 after CNN released video of the attack. In a video apology, he said he was "truly sorry" and his actions were "inexcusable."

A man with ties to the Greek and Danish royal families is missing in Southern California, according to police. Attilio Brillembourg, 53, of New York, was last seen Saturday in Malibu, police said.

UC Santa Cruz graduate teaching assistants, researchers and other academic workers will strike Monday, the union representing 48,000 student workers across the University of California announced. The workers at Santa Cruz will be the first to strike after the union voted to authorize its executive board to call for a strike at any time and at any campus.
